Q: What should I expect when I visit Second Calvary?

 

A: At Second Calvary, we welcome you to experience the spiritual excitement of worshipping God in Spirit and in truth. We want you to be able to experience the great music, encouraging messages, friendly people and enjoyable atmosphere that are a part of Second Calvary. And we know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up some questions. If you have any questions, you may contact us at 803-714-9668.

 

Q: What do we believe here at Second Calvary Baptist Church?

 

A: WE BELIEVE…in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven, and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified died and was buried. On the third day, He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. WE BELIEVE…in the Holy Spirit, the Church founded by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

Q: What does Second Calvary offer for my spiritual growth?

 

A: We welcome you to worship with us each Sunday morning during Sunday school at 9:45 and morning worship at 11:00. We believe your entire family will be encouraged in the Lord. There are opportunities for each member of your household to enjoy themselves as they encounter God through the Bible and other people just like you.

 

 

Q: How can I become a member of Second Calvary?

 

A: “For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us…” (Romans 12:4-6).

 

Second Calvary is a vibrant, growing congregation in the North Columbia area. We hope that you will consider joining us to help in the building of God’s kingdom as you grow and develop spiritually.

 

Membership in the Second Calvary Baptist Church begins with accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. We believe strongly in Romans (10:9) which says, “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”. In order to obtain full membership at Second Calvary Baptist Church, you must complete the following steps:

 

1. Publicly join our congregation during our Sunday morning worship service. This public acknowledgement can be confirmed through Baptism, Christian Experience or by Letter of Transfer from another Baptist congregation or by a Rededication of your life to Christ.

 

2. Be baptized; if required by (full body emersion), if you have not been so baptized.

 

3. Complete the New Members’ Classes.

 

4. Receive the “Right Hand of Fellowship” Once you have completed all steps, you will become a full member of Second Calvary Baptist Church. All Second Calvary members are encouraged to join one of the ministries the church offers for all ages.

 

 

Q: How can I get more information about joining a ministry?

 

A: Second Calvary has many ministries to meet the needs of our church family. Simply contact the church office at 803-714-9668 for contact information on any ministry that interests you.

 

 

Q: Upon my first visit I will feel uneasy because I’ve never been here before. How can I fit in?

 

A: Here at Second Calvary, we will make sure the first face you see when you approach the church has a smile on it. Whether you need childcare or are looking for a place for your teens, a greeter will be nearby to help you get where you need to go. We welcome you to worship with us each Sunday at ether our 11:00 a.m. service. We believe your entire family will be encouraged in the Lord. There are opportunities for each member of your household to enjoy themselves as they encounter God through the Bible and other people just like you.
