Infant dedication gives the family and the church family of a newborn an opportunity to celebrate their joy in presenting the child for God’s blessing. This public recognition of a very important and meaningful human event recognizes that children are a gift from God and include the solemn promise of the family and congregation to serve as caretakers of the new life and role models for the developing child.
An act of dedication is an act of faith in God, trusting Him to call the child to His purposes. The ceremony demonstrates a desire to see God’s will carried out in the life of the child and the realization that the church family has a role to play in the child’s development. Infant dedication is evidence of carrying out the Covenant promise “participate in each other’s joys” and is a reminder of the promise “to religiously educate our children”.
If you would like to have your child dedicated to the Lord, please contact the church at 803-714-9668 to make an appointment to consult with the pastor and officers of the church for approval and finalizing plans.
